From a PhD in Communication & Performing Artist
Social Media
for Artists
What I've learned building an audience of 31K while actually making art — not just content about it.
Here's the thing nobody tells you: social media advice from business gurus doesn't work for artists. Not really.
We don't have a product launch every quarter. We have creative cycles — seasons of making, seasons of sharing, and seasons of figuring out what's next. Our "brand" is our whole self, and our whole self doesn't run on a content calendar.
I know this because I've lived it. I left domestic violence, chased my childhood dream of becoming a dancer, and built an audience of 31K people while doing it. I also have a PhD in communication — so I understand why the platforms work the way they do.
This recording is from my 12 Days to the Stage program — it's the full branding and social media workshop. 56 slides of real talk about how to build a personal brand as an artist, what your social media actually needs to look like, how to set up your website, and the biggest mistakes I see artists making online. You also get a worksheet to work through it at your own pace.

What we cover
Real talk — no fluff, no hacks, no "post at 7am" advice.
-
What your brand actually is (and isn't)
It's not your fonts and colors. It's the story people tell about you when you're not in the room. We build that story together.
-
The 3 tiers of artist social media
Business Card, Avatar, or Icon — figure out which strategy fits where you are right now, with specific do's and don'ts for each.
-
What your website actually needs
Whether you're auditioning or booking gigs, what to include and what to cut so people take you seriously.
-
The communication science behind it
Why visuals matter more than captions, what the 7-second rule means for your profile, and why your nonverbals online matter.
-
How I actually booked work
Spoiler: it wasn't because of a viral reel. The real story of turning followers into opportunities — plus common mistakes I see artists make.
